BOTANIST

Conduct pre-construction and construction surveys for rare plants, weeds, and other botanical species.

Voucher plant specimens and provide taxonomic determinations using botanical keys.

Conduct literature and database review for rare plant occurrences
-
Record daily observations in database for GIS and statistical analysis.
-
CEQA and NEPA planning and report writing related to biological resource assessment.

Job Requirements

Education: MS or BS in Botany or Related Field
-
Excellent knowledge of and experience with plant species on the Central Coast of California
-
Experience: 5 years in botany or endangered plant species management
-
Qualified to be licensed to collect rare plants in California

Work with a team of professional biologists, environmental scientists, technicians, and species experts.

Must be able to walk 5 to 7 miles per day on relatively flat ground with day pack, water, supplies in variable weather conditions
-
Work long days in the field (10-12 hours)
