ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

Thorough knowledge of a variety of scientific and ecological process and environmental factors

Provide excellent and continuous communication with all compliance staff
-
Studies biological resources and environmental conditions affecting the environment
-
Gather information and organize data regarding environmental effects of solar farm
-
Interact closely and communicate effectively with operations personnel, associates, client representatives, contractors and state and federal regulatory agencies.

Follow all environmental and compliance protocols and regulations
-
Identifies, classifies, and studies distribution, abundance, behavior, physiology, and distribution, as applicable, of plant and animal species
-
Document environmental effects of proposed project and identifies methods of improving or maintaining environmental conditions
-
Interpret regulations and develop compliance strategies to meet applicable regulations and associated record keeping requirements.

Support environmental compliance issues and pollution prevention and management efforts
-
Participate in field audits
-
Prepare technical reports required by permits and applicable regulations/rules
-
Work with designated project biologists and outside experts to produce publishable research papers based on field data collected.
Job Summary
-
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management/Sciences, Natural Resources or an equivalent degree
-
At least 2 years HazMat recordkeeping experience
-
Basic theories of mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics associated with environmental regulation and research
-
Basic scientific research and statistical methods
-
County and department environmental regulatory purposes and work requirements
-
Sound environmental practices and the effect of environmental regulation on human health, water, soil, food, and other environmental elements
-
Environmental laws, regulations, and ordinances protecting public health and safety
-
Basic principles of environmental compliance assurance
-
Environmental management skills
-
Excellent recordkeeping skills using various database
-
Field experience working in a construction environment
-
Experience in communicating with various regulatory agencies, construction staff and biologists
-
Work with a team of professional biologists, environmental scientists, technicians, and species experts.
Job Requirements
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to walk 5 to 7 miles per day on relatively flat ground with day pack, water, supplies in variable weather conditions (windy, rainy, cold to 10 degrees F, heat to 110 degrees F).
- Work 10 hour work days
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted
- Valid driver’s license
