Workshop Description

California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and other environmental laws require mitigation to offset adverse impacts to biological resources. Success of those mitigation measures is often dependent on the specifics of the mitigation measure and how that mitigation is monitored. This workshop will cover what impacts to biological resources need to be mitigated to reduce the impact to a less-than-significant level. To be successful, the mitigation measure must be feasible and implementation and maintenance may need to be monitored, all by a consulting biologist. Althouse and Meade is offering a 2-day workshop on what mitigation is, how to develop mitigation measures, and then how to monitor the success of mitigation implementation. This workshop is specifically designed for the consulting biologist, planner, regulator, and conservationist to help them better understand the details of mitigation measures and monitoring. Instructor: David Magney, Principal Biologist at Althouse and Meade, Inc. He is a Certified Consulting Botanist #0001, and a ISA Certified Arborist #WE-7674A. Mr. Magney has developed and implemented mitigation for over 35 years. He has taught versions of this workshop for over 10 years through the California Native Plant Society. This workshop qualifies for 4 Professional Development Credits for Certified Field and Consulting Botanists. It is also beneficial for botanists that wish to prepared for the Botanist Certification exams.
