Dr. Ray Danner, PhD

About

Ray has over 25 years of experience as a biologist and has expertise in ecology, animal biology, restoration, permitting, and wetlands. He is skilled in project design, data analysis, writing reports, leadership, and mentoring. He works closely with landowners, federal and state agencies, non-profits, the public, and other stakeholders. He has written many reports, published over 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and is an active member of the scientific community. He earned degrees in Biosciences and Geography at the University of Missouri in 2002 and a PhD in Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech in 2012. He then conducted advanced avian and ecological research through competitive postdoctoral fellowships at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center and Tulane University. He is committed to education and devoted several years to science-based learning as a professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he also led an active research lab that trained high-performing undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students.
